We got married on June 24, 2017 at Chautauqua in Boulder, Colorado and it was the BEST day of our lives! Everything was absolutely perfect. We had so much fun celebrating our marriage with all our friends and families! We truly feel so loved by everyone and we are thankful to have so many special people in our lives. Thank you to everyone who came out to Boulder to party with us! We also had people in our hearts who could not make it that were with us in spirit. Tyler and I are loving married life and we couldn’t be happier! You can now call me Camille Glotz!
Just wanted to give everyone a little sneak peak at the wedding pictures I received from our photographer thus far. I will post the rest of them and the link to view them all once they’re all ready in a few weeks! I love every single one and will cherish them forever. Tina Joiner was our wedding photographer and she did a fantastic job, I highly recommend her if you are getting married in Colorado. Ladybird Poppy also blew it out of the water with our stunning bouquets and archway. We were blessed with a beautiful Colorado summer day and a totally stress free wedding!
P.S. I had to throw in an iPhone video my friend took of us getting sent off 🙂
Let’s talk skincare! I knew that when I got engaged, it was time to improve my skin and get it wedding ready. I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about what I am doing to my skin so I wanted to share with y’all. My skincare routine is my favorite self care ritual and I love it even more now because I am seeing such great results. I have been doing this routine for about 3-4 months now and I’m just being honest, my skin has never looked better! It glows from within and I rarely break out. I credit it 100% to sticking religiously to my routine. I’ve also discovered the beauty of using acids to exfoliate the skin (AHA and BHA) which are much more effective and less irritating than manual exfoliation (scrubs, brushes, etc.). It’s truly how you achieve the glow and get rid of accumulated dead skin cells.
While there are so many options out there, it’s not easy to find a clean and clinically effective skincare routine. As a self professed product junkie, I’ve done my fair share of experimenting with supposedly good products that left my skin overly dry, red, irritated, or that just flat out did not do anything. Many popular brands often are loaded with nasty fragrances (which break down the collagen in the skin), alcohols, parabens, sulfates, and other gross irritants. Through lots of research and consulting Paula Begoun’s Beautypedia, I finally found my “holy grail” skincare routine. I use a combination of products from Drunk Elephant, Paula’s Choice, and EltaMd. Mostly Drunk Elephant products. I love literally everything they make. What first drew me to the brand, other than the raving reviews, was the cute, colorful, and airless packaging. This is SO important! That Vitamin C, E, AHA/BHA, antioxidants, etc. all become much less effective/unstable when they are exposed to oxygen. That’s what we pay the big bucks for so definitely invest in a brand that packages their products correctly and sanitarily! All their products are made in the U.S.A. which is important to me and they are extremely committed to providing clean and clinically effective products. Good skincare is not cheap and cheap skincare is not good. In my opinion, it is smarter to invest in skincare so you don’t need as much makeup!
The only product you cannot purchase online or in store, is the retinoic acid which is a prescription you have to get from a dermatologist. I am currently using only .025% retinoic acid which is super weak but if you don’t want your skin to peel and flake everywhere, start with a low strength and work your way up. I am probably going to bump mine up next time I go to the dermatologist. Also, to all my deep south friends and family, I would definitely suggest not using this many moisturizing products if you live where it’s humid. When I was in Louisiana, I only used the B-Hydra as my moisturizer. This is what works for me living in Colorado where it’s super dry and arid. FYI, this post is not sponsored.
We recently got our engagement pictures back from our wedding photographer and they’re so sweet! I love every single one and they will always be special to me. We took these in late October up Flagstaff Mountain at Lost Gulch Overlook. It was such a beautiful, and exceptionally warm day, to take photos. Our photographer was excellent and she captured our love and sense of adventure so well. I will definitely cherish these forever! They make me so happy. Luckily wedding planning has been easy and stress free thus far which is such a blessing. Our engagement is already flying by. Only about 7 more months until we tie the knot! We are celebrating our engagement with family and friends down in Louisiana next week so we are excited about that! Tyler and I are happier and closer than ever. Get ready for a love overload!!
Denver day!! My mom came to Colorado for a long weekend to help me pick out my wedding dress…YAY! I had an appointment at Emma & Grace Bridal in the Five Points/Curtis Park area of Denver so we decided to make a day out of it. Tyler and I rarely go to Denver (blame it on the Boulder bubble) so it was really fun to explore the city. Tyler and Joe went to the Denver Nature and Science museum while my mom and I picked out my something new! Emma & Grace is an adorable studio with a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Everyone was so nice and Lynn was especially helpful. I went in there with literally no clue what I wanted and within trying on 6 or 7 dresses, I already had it narrowed down to 3!! It was like she read my mind haha. I am a pretty quick shopper so we were in and out of there in about 40 minutes. I am seriously in love with the dress I picked out and cannot wait to wear it on my wedding day!! It’s perfect. After we found my dress, the boys picked us up and we celebrated at a nearby Mexican restaurant on the rooftop patio with margs and tacos!
We are getting married at Chautauqua Park here in beautiful Boulder, Colorado on Saturday, June 24th, 2017!!We are loving engaged life thus far and have had so much fun picking our wedding venue! Props to Tyler for the idea of doing it at Chautauqua. There’s a lot more planning to do but since we got our venue locked down, we wanted to make an announcement on here! Of course, formal save the dates will go out in the mail towards the end of this year. The ceremony will be outdoors on the Chautauqua green with a stunning view of the flatirons. The reception will follow in the Chautauqua dining hall right next to the green. It will be an indoor/outdoor reception with a tent, band, and buffet. When Tyler and I went to check out the venue, there was a wedding going on outside on the green and that seriously sold us!! Check out the pics below. We even walked to our appointment with the event coordinator because it’s only a few blocks from our house. So easy and yet so stunningly beautiful!! Chautauqua is at the base of the flatirons so it really couldn’t be anymore perfect and it’s also a national historic landmark with tons awesome hiking trails. It’s so us. Link to our wedding website and Honeyfund below. We are so excited to get married in front of all our family and friends! #GlotzofLove
It’s surreal that Tyler and I are engaged!! I am writing this the morning after my 23rd birthday, the day after Tyler proposed to me. It was pure bliss waking up with my fiancé this morning. I am beyond thrilled that we are spending the rest of our lives together! Yesterday was the greatest day of my life thus far. The love jitters were uncontrollable haha!! We are both so grateful that we found the loves of our life and cannot wait to get married. Thank you so much to our wonderful family and friends for all their love and support. Apologies if we were not the best with our phones yesterday, we were trying to savor the moment and were overwhelmed with happiness!!
So the proposal story. The weather was looking to be a pretty rainy/stormy afternoon on my birthday so we decided to go on a morning mountain adventure in lieu of going camping. Tyler drove us up to Dream Canyon, which is just as dreamy as it sounds! We were hanging out and admiring the view at the overlook and all of a sudden Tyler said my name, Camille. He proceeded to get down on one knee and pulled out a wooden jewelry box. At this point, I knew what was happening and had a giant smile from ear to ear. He gave a little speech before opening the box and told me how he wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and that I am the love of his life. He opened the box and revealed a GORGEOUS diamond and sapphire ring. It was his family ring. That’s when he asked me to marry him. I immediately said yes and started kissing him. He then put the ring on my wedding ring finger (removing the promise ring he had given me–he sure kept his promise!!). This was by far the best and most memorable moment in my life. We stayed at dream canyon just hugging, kissing, loving on each other, talking, etc. for a while afterwards until we decided to head back to Boulder to share the news with my mom and grandmother (who are in Boulder this weekend) and all our other family members and friends. Our phones blew up like crazy and were dead in less than an hour after the news was shared!! We feel so loved by everyone and we are just so incredibly happy to be engaged. For those who have asked, we have literally no clue about any wedding details haha. Tyler graduates from CU in May 2017 so, it will definitely be next summer sometime because we met in the summer, it’s the best season, and we need time to plan everything! It’s also probably going to be in Colorado and I will definitely be wearing a flower crown.
For those who are interested, here is our story of how we meet and fell in love! Tyler and I met for the first time way back in the fall of 2012. That seems like yesterday to me but, in reality that was 4 years ago…wow. Anyways, I was a sophomore at CU Boulder and he was fresh off the greyhound bus from his hometown of Richmond, Virginia. I use the word fresh very sarcastically because he was quite the opposite in all his sexy, southern, home bum-esque appeal. Pretty sure all he had was a backpack to his name, and a small one at that. I have to give major credit to one of my best friends from college and roommate at the time, Alli, for allowing Tyler and his other 2 other traveling friends (whom I have a deep affection for now) in our home because to be honest, I was not exactly comfortable with them being there at first haha! Alli was dating one of Tyler’s best friends from home, Dan, who was also attending CU and lived one block away from us. Tyler and his friends were in between crashing at Dan’s place, camping, and crashing at our place. Tyler and I were obviously in different places in our life when we first met but, I knew from the instant meeting him that he was 1) an awesome, brave, and smart person and 2) that I wanted to be close friends with him (maybe even more than friends hehe). Tyler has since told me that he mentioned to Dan that he wanted to marry me before he even really knew me, which I find really adorable and romantic. But like I said, we were in very different places in life and it wasn’t until the following summer in early June of 2013 that we became romantically involved, although we remained good friends throughout that period of time. After about 2-3 weeks of ‘hanging out’ and hiking at the beginning of the summer, Tyler asked me to be his girlfriend which I happily said yes to! It immediately felt like the start of something incredibly, which it was. Ever since then, we have fallen more and more in love every single day of being together. We have been through so much together and we know that we want to be together forever . Our relationship is truly the most special thing and we love each other unconditionally. Fast forward to now, 2016, we live in a cute little duplex together that we have been dwelling in for about 2 and a half years now. I graduated from CU Boulder and have an ‘adult’ office job. Tyler is finishing up his degree in computer science at CU Boulder (he’s a genius just so you know). We have an adorable American Bulldog, Waldo, who makes many features on the blog/Instagram. He is our first child and is spoiled rotten! It’s funny because Waldo’s birthday (June 21) coincides with our anniversary. So this year Waldo will turn 3 years old and we will celebrate our 3rd anniversary! We don’t have an exact day as to when we started dating but, we know it was in mid to late June so we just stick with Waldo’s birthday so we both always remember haha. It’s like Waldo is our spirit love child lol. Okay, too far…haha. Now we are are engaged and are the happiest we have ever been!!
Spring is finally here!!! Boulder’s weather is so bipolar, it’s been snowing on and off but I’m crossing my fingers that this fabulous weather is here to stay!! I’m loving all the blooming flowers everywhere. Spring also means spring cleaning!
The other weekend, Tyler and I did a huge purge of old clothes and other unnecessary junk in our house and gave it all to the Goodwill (I swear we had like 6 trash bags FULL of stuff). We also did a deep clean of our house which felt really good. Along with spring cleaning, we have been trying to “clean up” in other ways.
Tyler and I are both super conscious abut using body products that are safe, effective, and as natural as possible. I once heard that you should only put on your skin what you would put in your mouth, and that has kind of always stuck with me for some reason. After all, our skin is our largest organ that quickly absorbs whatever you put on it so it’s important to only use stuff that would be potentially edible (or almost). We try to make as many of our products at home as possible to ensure quality and to save money. That being said, we have a few creations that we want to share with y’all!! I am also going to include a few other natural/organic products that I couldn’t live without (links to all are at the bottom). Tyler created an amazing homemade shampoo/body wash that we’ve been loving and I recently made a body scrub that is seriously the best scrub I’ve ever tried! We both felt like we scrubbed a pound of dead skin off ourselves after using it…sorry if that’s TMI but this stuff works! Both are simple to make. We have also been using raw, organic apple cider vinegar as a toner/astringent and it’s the best! It’s cleansing, tightens the pores, and evens out complexion.
Tyler & I enjoyed our 3rd Valentine’s day together this year! It’s so crazy that we have been together for almost 3 years now! Time has seriously flown by. Tyler recently turned 23 years old, I will turn 23 in May, Waldo turns 3 in June, and Tyler and I’s 3rd anniversary is in June also! A lot of 3’s! When I was talking to Tyler the other day, we realized that this will be our 4th summer together (we already have a lot planned). To me, the seasons are a much better way of measuring time rather than months and years.
This weekend was so romantic and chill, even though at one point we had 3 dogs in our little home haha (dog sitting for co-workers). On Saturday, we went on a trail (interval) run which was super fun! We went to a loop trail in North Boulder, almost to Lyons, that was about 3 miles. The trail was a bit muddy but still awesome and great for running because there weren’t a bunch of rocks everywhere and it was a relatively smooth grade. Trail running is way more challenging than regular running! I haven’t been on a run in a long time so it was good to get some cardio in. My abs and legs were actually sore the next day! I’m also about mid way through my squat challenge which is kicking my ass, literally and figuratively! Tyler has certainly noticed & appreciated the results 🙂 On Saturday night, we made the most amazing paleo pressure cooked lemongrass & coconut chicken served over cauliflower rice! I usually am not a big fan of chicken, it’s so boring, but this was so incredible! It tasted almost like green curry and the chicken was falling off the bone (thank you instant pot). Of course we also watched Twin Peaks on Saturday night because it’s the best.
I had the amazing opportunity to write an article/blog post for enlighzen, an outdoor/zen themed website that features guest bloggers! Definitely go check out their website and Instagram. Here is the link to “Enlightenment via Adventure” https://www.enlighzen.com/enlightenment-via-adventure/
Hope y’all enjoy it! I would appreciate any feedback so feel free to comment below. This is a picture from Isabelle Lake when the wildflowers were in full bloom!
